Would never recommend a stay here !!! My sister-in-law and I rented a cabin for my birthday. Upon entering the cabin we noticed an strange smell but thought perhaps the cabin had not been used in a bit. We also the notice the floor in the bathroom was sagging but did not give it much thought. After getting no sleep due to a dripping faucet, we both woke up with major headaches. We spoke with handyman Chris who promptly addressed the issue. We then approached Jerry (owner) .. about the issue and asked if we could move to another cabin which was vacant and were told NO as he would have a harder time renting the cabin we were We even offered to pay any additional cost and clean the cabin, he still replied NO!! After my sister-in-law took a shower in a tub that did not drain, she noticed that there was a a leak in the shower area and black mold on the corners of the floor boards and on the ceiling. Ahh...the cause of our headaches..so much for being clean!! When I took a shower my eyes actually began to swell from the mold...which I am highly allergic to!! We notified Chris of the situation who after observing the water and mold apologized and told us he would talk to Jerry. When he returned he told us that we could move to the other cabin with no problem and that he had told Jerry that no one could stay in the cabin. He also stated he was going to close it down regardless if Jerry liked it our not as no one could stay there with that amount of mold.

For over a decade, my dad and I have rented a cottage at Journey's End for our annual Father's Day fishing weekend at Long Lake, and never once has our stay disappointed. And this year was no exception. For the first time, we, along with my brother-in-law, had the pleasure of renting the "Lodge," which for us struck a fine balance between modern convenience (if not luxury) and the rusticity of the Adirondack woods. As always, the house was well-appointed and the grounds well-maintained. And the property's large private dock--just steps from our door--made launching and tying up our boat every morning and afternoon pretty effortless.

So, we move to the new cabin and thought that everything is all set..boy were we wrong!! While returning from an outing the following day we find a note on our door from Jerry telling us that we owe him 53 dollars in addition to what we had already paid for our cabin!!! Then this wonderful cranky man rented the moldy cabin to some unsuspecting couple with a dog!!! The next day when we went to check out he demanded his money. We explained to him that did he or Chris tell us that there was an additional charge for our new cabin and nor did we expect one since we had the mold issues in the other cottage. He said that it was not mold and that there was never an issue. Then he threatened to notify the sheriff which I asked him to call but refused. He also stated that Chris told us that there was an additional, which he never did!! When we asked him to call Chris he stated that he could not call him and he would not be able to reach him. After fighting back and forth I finally gave the bitter, miserable old man his money. If you are looking for a stress free, clean place to stay trust me THIS IS NOT IT!! Hats off to Chris for being able to work with someone like this.. I would not!!

From beginning to end, the new owners of Journey's End were a joy to work with. They responded quickly and thoroughly to all of our questions before arriving and even checked in with us during our stay to ensure that we had everything we needed (which we did). The caretaker of the property was also very pleasant and helpful (and was kind enough to let us in on a few fishing secrets we were unaware of!).

Journey's End has new owners and has spruced up the property. We stayed there during the summer of 2014 and can't wait to return.

Beautiful lakeside cottages located in the Adirondack's on Long Lake. Amazing views, fun water activities such as kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, canoeing. Two docks for boating. Several hiking trails for all levels. Located in a quaint village. Cottages are clean, cozy with attentive caretakers. Wi-Fi available, satellite TV. Excellent family experience on Long Lake.

As a measure of our continued satisfaction, we have already booked a cottage for our 2016 Father's Day fishing trip. We recommend Journey's End without the slightest hesitation.

Our stay isn't even complete and we're already planning to come back! Really lovely accommodations and perfectly situated. The property is beautiful - clearly well-maintained - and the location is beautiful. A wonderful place for couples - and families. Can't wait to return!
