NPT thru-hikers: Excellent place to stay if you need a break from the rain! Split a shared bathroom room with a fellow hiker for $50 each, room was clean and warm, bathroom was clean. Staff was super friendly and accommodating (especially to hikers). Can mail your resupply boxes right there and they'll hold them. Restaurant is downstairs and serves great food - the hot turkey sandwich was delicious!

I ordered Prime Rib for $28 (ordered rare), whereas my wife ordered a simple hamburger for roughly $10 (ordered well done). After roughly 1/2 hr, my wife's meal arrived. I waited an additional 10 minutes for my meal which was cooked somewhere between medium rare and medium. I pointed this out to our waiter and was simply told "that's the way we serve rare here" as he walked away (he didn't come back to check on us or fill our water glasses until the bill was delivered). Grudgingly, I attempted to eat my meal only to find it was very stringy/sinewy and couldn't be chewed/swallowed. I gave up after a number of failed bites and merely stacked the un-chew-able meat on the side of the plate. When the waiter delivered the bill, I pointed at my uneaten meal and said it was a horrible piece of meat improperly cooked. His response while walking away was "sorry, please pay at the front desk".
Great food and hotel. Love motorcycling to this place!
Several weeks back went to the hotel for a nice meal and were seated in the main dining room. We were the only ones in the dining room and ended up waiting an extended period until they finally assigned a waiter to take our order.
Stopped here for lunch while snowmobiling in the area. The lunch was outstanding! Chicken sandwich with apples and apple cider sauce--excellent. My husband had open-face rib-eye sandwich--he said best he has had. Small, but nice, gift shop. Staff was very friendly. Have stopped here in prior years and always had wonderful food and good service. Will stop in next winter and are planning a fall trip. Can't speak about the lodging, but food and service was A-plus!!
At the front desk, I was asked "how were things?" I politely responded by saying my wife's meal was fine, however mine was candidly inedible. The response from both the desk manager and the restaurant manager was "sorry" as they proceeded to collect the full amount of the tab (approximately $50). I''ll never return...
This place is the adirondack mountains. We have always been treated great and the service for a small town bar/restaurant is wonderful. We got engaged in front of the hotel and have been back many times. The rooms are nice and simple and are with tripping distance of the beautiful bar down stairs
